FISHING UPDATE

As from Monday 6th July, the Elan Valley and Claerwen reservoirs will be open for fly fishing only, operating on a 'Day Permit Only' basis.

Llyngwyn and the Rivers will remain closed until further notice.

Please can you explain why you are not allowing fishing on the rivers?
I travelled up to Rhayader today, a round trip of 80 plus miles, to fish the Claerwen, went to Dolly’s to get my ticket as usual, only to be told that you were not allowing fishing on the rivers. I have fished the Claerwen and the Elan quite regularly over the last three or four years, I normally purchase a season permit. I suppose that I should have checked your website before coming but with the Covid 19 restrictions being relaxed I assumed that fishing would be allowed, particularly as I have never met another fisherman on your rivers. I notice that the Elan Valley is open to visitors, including their toilets and a snack van so this ban on fishing the rivers does appear unjustifiable. A wasted day!!!
