John Newbury sent us this picture of this fine brown trout, caught up on Craig Goch reservoir.
At 22 inches long and weighing over 3lb, this fish must have put up a cracking fight! Safely returned to fight another day. Thank you John.

RHAYADER & ELAN VALLEY ANGLING ASSOCIATION
MONTHLY REPORT
September 2016

The Large fish eluded the anglers in September, but Mr. P. Cooper of Llandinam did land a rainbow of 5lbs on a dry fly. Some good bags were recorded over all, especially Rob Davies, also of Llandinam, who landed 16 rainbows from Llyngwyn (all returned), on catch and release with barbless hooks on dry flies. Other flies catching were Daddies, Hoppers, Damsels and Cats Whiskers.

The Elan Valley also produced some good fish on dry flies. Black Spiders and Hoppers being the best. Many fish in the 1lb to 2lb range were taken and all in good condition.

The Elan and Claerwen Reservoirs close on October 17th for the winter break, but Winter Permits are available for Llyngwyn.

The Rhayader open competition at Llyngwyn is on Sunday, November 6th.
See website for details.
