Llyngwyn fishing report March & April
After a long period of closure due to the Covid lockdown it was great to be able to open up Llyngwyn again to all fishermen. The fishing has been great and we would like to thank everyone who has returned to fish with us. The average catch was 5 fish. Rex Key landed a 9lb 2oz brownie on a buzzer, Steve Wilde had a bag of 14 including a 7lb and a 4 1/2lb brownie, all browns were safely returned. Lynn Evans had a bag of 28 using a hothead damsel, techno cat and black and brown crunchers. Dan Graham had a bag of 10 on a tequila blob. Over 550 fish were caught by 121 anglers. Rhayader & Elan Valley Angling Association would like to thank everyone for their on going support and it's great to see so many anglers back after the lockdown.

We are pleased to announce that Llyngwyn, the Rivers and the
Elan Valley & Claerwen reservoirs are open to all anglers. The boats at LLyngwyn will remain unavailable for the time being. We are pleased to announce that from Saturday 27th March, fishing up the Elan Valley and Claerwen reservoirs will be open to anglers who live in Wales, along with our other waters, Llyngwyn and the Rivers.

The boats at LLyngwyn will remain unavailable. Llyngwyn's Winter season begins Sunday 18th October and runs until the 19th March 2021. Season tickets and Day tickets are available from Powells Newsagents and Hafod Hardware, in Rhayader.

Tight lines everyone. Pictures: Fishing In Wales After the long months that Llyngwyn was closed due to the Covid 19 pandemic it was good to finally be open again and get fishing. Llyngwyn was stocked before the opening with some larger rainbows up to 5lb in weight. The average bag was 4 fish and some of the larger bags caught include Mr Wood from Sussex who had a great day with 11, Ken Holroyd caught 10, Roger lewis 11, Phil Price 10 and Mr Rowberry 8. Some good catches included Roger Lewis with a 6 1/2lb rainbow on a foam daddy, Ken Holroyd with a 6lb on a Damsel and a 5 1/2lb on a Klinkhammer.
Rhayader & Elan Valley Angling Association would like to thank everyone for their patience over the months that we were all in lockdown and it’s great to see everyone back fishing. Stay safe. For any anglers wishing to access the river Wye via the Caravan site, this is the route you must take whilst inside the grounds of the camping and caravan club site.
The committee have decided that Llyngwyn and the rivers will be open from this Saturday 25th July. Tickets will be available from R. M. Powells Newsagents and Hafod Hardware. The toilet and shed will remain closed and boats will be out of use for the time being.
Anglers visiting these venues will need to make themselves aware of the current government rules and guidance relating to COVID 19 and social distancing. Anglers are also expected to maintain hygiene particularly regarding gates and styles etc. Please complete catch returns on the back of tickets or piece of paper and post under shed door. As from Monday 6th July, the Elan Valley and Claerwen reservoirs will be open for fly fishing only, operating on a 'Day Permit Only' basis.
Llyngwyn and the Rivers will remain closed until further notice. Thank you. |
