Llyngwyn
Last month, many bag limits of six fish were recorded
with half of the anglers catching their limit. No really large
fish were recorded but there were some good overall bags.
Chris Bodenham of Ludlow six fish for 16lbs and Cliff Lloyd
netted six fish for 14lbs, including a fish of 4lb 1oz.
Pat Sharman also landed a fish of 3lb 12oz.
The best flies were damsels, montanas, cats whiskers

LLYNGWYN
May saw many large trout caught at Llyngwyn. Don Griffiths of
Hirwain had a rainbow of 10 lbs on a Diawl Bach and one of
9 lbs 3 oz on a Hare's Ear. Nigel Clarke, also of Hirwain, had
a rainbow of 8 lbs 4 oz on a Little Devil and R. Morris of
Hereford had a goldie of 6 lbs 8 oz on a Buzzer, which
he returned to the water.
Ken Holroyd of Tenbury Wells caught 5 fish for 20 lbs 8 oz
on an Orange Fritz, and R. Morris of Hereford had 6 fish
for 15 lbs on a Buzzer. Terry Kerr was into big fish once again
with 3 fish for 14 lbs 9 oz; the largest being 6 lbs 2 oz on an Alexandra.
Small flies fished slow seem to be better than large lures retrieved fast.
ELAN VALLEY
The start of the season has been quite hard in the Elan Valley,
although quite a few browns over 1 lb have been bagged.
The fishing should improve now with the warmer weather on the way !
Paul Metcalf of Llandrindod Wells had 6 browns for 4 lbs 8 oz and
Roger Lewis had 6 browns for 3 lbs 10 oz. Dale Fowkes of
Knighton bagged a brown of 1 lb 5 oz and Paul Metcalf had a
brown of 1 lb 3 oz.
The Elan Valley reservoirs will be re-stocked in the near future.
|
25.5.11
Today we stocked Llyngwyn with 5lb+
Rainbows, Blues and Goldies.
We would appreciate any angler catching a
fish over 4lbs returning it carefully to the lake so
they could grow even bigger and provide more
fun for other anglers.

INNOVATIVE BREAST CANCER ANGLING INITIATIVE ARRIVES IN WALES
Fourteen brave ladies (and Molly â" the spaniel mascot) enjoyed a weekend Fly-Fishing Retreat at Caer Beris Manor Hotel, Builth Wells, and at Llyngwyn from 11th â" 13th April at the first ever Casting for Recovery event to be held in Wales.
Casting for Recovery, a unique outdoor based programme, specifically designed for women who have, or have had, breast cancer, provides Fly Fishing programmes at idyllic retreats around the UK and Ireland. Fly Fishing offers proven benefits for recovering breast cancer patients. The casting action provides the gentle exercise recommended by physiotherapists for joint and soft tissue mobility.
The Caer Beris retreat was only the third to be held in the UK and first of its kind in Wales, and attracted several Welsh participants, who were instructed by members of the Welsh Ladies Fly Fishing team and members of the Rhayader and Elan Valley Angling Association. Local MP Roger Williams also came along to wish the participants well as they went fishing for the first time at Llyngwyn fishery near Rhayader.
Another Welsh retreat will be announced soon. For more information contact Sue Hunter on info@castingforrecovery.org.uk or write to P.O. Box 3611, Slough, Berkshire, SL3 3BY or see their website www.castingforrecovery.org.uk |
